Well, it didn't happen as quickly as we would have liked, but as of Monday afternoon (8/22/11) our dossier was on it's way to China. Getting the report back from the Illinois Department of Child and Family Services went quickly. Our homestudy agency wrote an addendum to our homestudy to reflect the new information. We got our I-797 (giving us approval to adopt a child from China) shortly thereafter. We got the proper stamps on a copy of the I-797 from the Chinese Embassy in Washington D.C. and sent everything to our adoption agency who put it together with all the other documents we had already sent them and sent it to the adoption authorities in China.
Now, we are waiting for notification that our dossier has been "logged in", which usually takes a few weeks to receive. One to 4 months after that, we will get papers from China saying that everything is OK on their end, and we will begin another round of forms to officially "accept" the young girl we are trying so hard to adopt.
Getting our dossier sent is a MAJOR milestone, and we feel very happy to have reached this point. But now we play the waiting game again, hopefully not for too long!!!
