Been There, Done That.....but Different

Well, now we remember why adoption agencies suggest we spend a few days sightseeing before adding a new member to our family....JET LAG!!! Jensyn was wide awake and watching a movie on her Nook at 2 AM. Natalie was playing with her Nintendo 3DS about an hour later. The rest of us were trying to sleep (fairly unsuccessfully considering the noise from the assorted electronics - no one could find the headphones we brought, apparently). And by 6:30AM we were all down at the breakfast buffet (a beloved part of the adoption experience here in China).

We spent the day touring with another family who will be adopting a young son from Nanjing tomorrow. We went to the section of the Great Wall that Cathy and I visited over 10 years ago when we were in China to adopt Natalie. That time the temperature was about 98 degrees, and today it was about 20 degrees with a "brisk" wind blowing (gradually getting us ready for Harbin).

In spite of the fact that we are older than the last time we visited, we were able to climb this steep portion of the Wall much further than before (trying to keep up with 3 daredevil daughters probably helped). But all the exercise, the cold air, and last night's lack of sleep means we are all very tired this evening.

Tomorrow we will be touring around Beijing again and then Tuesday we will move on to Harbin and our newest daughter. Hopefully, by then we will be rested.
